Dr. D. Michael Barton, DVM

Dr. Michael Barton is the owner of The Veterinary Medical Clinic of Boise and one of our two practicing veterinarians.  He graduated Cum Laude with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1997 from Washington State University.  He received his Bachelor's of Science at Colorado State University and Washington State University.  Dr. Barton has owned and practiced at VMC for over 25 years.

In addition to small animal surgery, medicine, and dentistry, his special interests in the field include avian medicine and surgery and laser surgery.  He has completed post-graduate courses in ultrasound, endoscopy, and avian medicine and surgery.

Outside of work, Dr. Barton can often be found in the outdoors whether it be fly fishing, skiing, hunting, hiking, rafting, or playing a round of golf in Boise.  He owns, but is operated by, a yellow labrador and brittany spaniel that are his hunting companions.

Modesty Labbe

Originally from Bavaria, Germany, Modesty has been in the US off and on since the age of 11. Married to a military man, she has traveled for most of the past 20 years. Modesty went to Yuba College in California to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. She then moved to Boise, ID in March of 2001. She got her Idaho Veterinary Technician Certification in 2003.

Modesty has three children, two girls and a boy. She has four dogs: small (Papillon mix), medium (Brittany Spaniel), large (Siberian Husky) and extra large (Doberman). She also has two cats that are great help at keeping the mouse population down on her farm.  Last, but not least, are her three horses: an Arabian and two American Saddle Bred/Arabian crosses. Oh, and a husband too!

For fun, Modesty likes to ride her horses, travel, go hiking and camping. With her husband recently retired from the military, she and her family are making Idaho their permanent home.

Carolyn Baum-Buttorff

Raised in rural Idaho, Carolyn developed her deep love of animals very early in life. After several years of post-college employment in the generic business world of banks, businesses, and corporations, that love pulled her back into college courses and study, and lead her to the next 23 joyful years of work in and with the veterinary community. She certified in Idaho as a Veterinary Technician in 2003, and is happy to work in the clinic in a variety of responsibilities. As Practice Manager, those responsibilities include accounting, management, and marketing duties. August 2005 marks her 15th anniversary with VMCB. She enjoys being part of a conscious, professional staff serving VMCB’s great clients and their beloved ‘feathered and furred’ family pets.

Jenny Myers

Jenny has lived most of her life in Boise, Idaho.  She went to college at the University of Idaho where she got her bachelors in Zoology.  After college, she decided to have some fun away from home and traveled to Tennessee for a job as a wildlife rehabilitator.  Two and a half years later, she moved back west and became a zookeeper at Utah's Hogle Zoo.  Finally deciding that Boise was where she really wanted to be, she came back home in 2002 where she started in the field as a veterinary assistant.  She has also done some work around town at the Ruth Melichar Bird Center, the Boise Zoo, and currently works part time at the World Center for Birds of Prey, helping raise the California Condors.

At home she has 2 dogs (pound puppies) and a cat to keep her company, along with whatever fosters or strays she happens to have at the time!  Jenny loves to stay busy and throughout the year plays soccer (both indoor and outdoor), softball, volleyball, loves to be in the hills hiking with her dogs, and throws in an occasional night of poker.  Never a quiet night for her!

Leslie Lynn Allen

Leslie has been at VMC since September of 2004, but has been both volunteering and working in the field since 1990. She currently owns horses, dogs, cats, and a frog, and has had just about every other animal you could imagine, from birds to snakes to livestock. Her personal interests include any and all pro-rodeo events and Vintage Car Restoration.  She was recently married in 2005 and is enjoying her new life with her husband.
